Pro Bono Opportunity with Liverpool John Moores University Legal Advice Centre

At Liverpool John Moores University Legal Advice Centre, students, staff and external solicitor volunteers provide free legal advice and assistance to individuals who are not eligible for legal aid and cannot afford to pay for legal advice. The clinic overs a wide variety of areas of law including charity law, intellectual property, commercial, civil disputes, wills & contentious wills, family and housing.

Volunteering opportunity

Liverpool John Moores University Legal Advice Centre are looking for volunteer qualified solicitors specialising in:

  • charity law
  • intellectual property
  • commercial
  • civil disputes
  • wills & contentious wills
  • family
  • housing

The role of volunteer solicitors is to supervise students leading a fact finding interview, then reviewing the draft advice letter that follows within 3 weeks of the interview.

Volunteer solicitors can support the clinic either in-person or online.

Advice is covered by the clinic's professional indemnity insurance.

Person specification

Volunteers must be qualified solicitors (with practising certificates) who are experienced in one of the areas of law listed above.  Trainees and paralegals are welcome to assist the clinic but would need to be supervised by a qualified solicitor from the firm.

 

Time commitment 

There is no minimum time commitment - the clinic is flexible and open to discuss arrangements that suit availability of firms.
