Volunteering opportunity
ARU London Law Clinic are looking for volunteer qualified solicitors specialising in:
- Employment
- Family
- Housing
Law students will conduct an interview with the client prior to the advice appointment and provide a briefing note to the solicitor along with any documents received from the client. The role of volunteer solicitors is to deliver 30-minute online advice sessions to clients. Students also attend the advice sessions and draft a legal advice note which the volunteer solicitor will need to review before it is shared with the client.
The clinic operates fully remotely.
The clinic has full insurance but also asks volunteer solicitors to have their own professional indemnity insurance.
This is an opportunity to be part of something from the ground up and help shape a new student-led legal advice clinic in one of the most deprived boroughs in London.
Person specification
Volunteers must be qualified solicitors (with practising certificates) who are experienced in one of the areas of law listed above.
Solicitors must be 3+ years PQE.
Time commitment
Ideally solicitors will be able to commit to one 30-minute legal advice meeting per month. The 30-minutes does not include preparation time.
The clinic will coordinate scheduling around your availability. The clinic runs throughout the year with the exception of Christmas holidays, Easter holidays and the month of August.
