Pro Bono Opportunity with South Essex Law Clinic

One of the services that Citizens Advice Braintree and South Essex provides to local residents is one-off, initial legal advice through their pro bono legal advice clinic. The clinic take place remotely via telephone and currently covers family, housing and contested wills, trusts and estates. Clients must live or work within the council areas of: Basildon, Brentwood, Castle Point, Rochford, Thurrock, Braintree.

Volunteering opportunity

South Essex Law Clinic are looking to expand the areas of law they are able to advise on and are therefore are looking for volunteer qualified solicitors specialising in:

  • Employment
  • Medical negligence
  • Civil law
  • Immigration

Volunteer solicitors provide verbal advice to clients during 30 minute telephone appointments.

The clinic does not have it's own professional indemnity insurance and therefore any advice provided by a solicitor would need to be covered by their firm's insurance.

Person specification

Volunteers must be qualified solicitors (with practising certificates) who are experienced in one of the areas of law listed above.  Trainees are welcome to assist the clinic but would need to be supervised by a qualified solicitor from the firm.

Time commitment

Ideally volunteer solicitors will be able to commit to volunteering 1 hour per week.
