Wales law firm partnership opportunity: Ty Hafan Children's Hospice

Founded in 1999, Ty Hafan is a much-respected children’s hospice charity providing a range of services to children with life-shortening conditions and their loved ones from their Sully hospice and in communities and private homes.

Staff at Ty Hafan have noticed significant unmet legal needs amongst clients, particularly in the areas of family/child and mental capacity law.

A legal clinic situated within Ty Hafan would providing immediate, accessible and free legal advice in a familiar setting, allowing parents to focus on spending precious time with their children. Therefore, Ty Hafan is looking to partner with a firm(s) whose staff wish to volunteer.

What will volunteers get out of this?

These roles would give volunteers the opportunity to use their legal expertise to provide potentially life-changing advice and support to people going through some of the toughest challenges imaginable; whilst partnering with and contributing to the work of an incredibly well-respected and well-loved Welsh institution.

The roles will also provide the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients on varied matters, to develop new skills, and expertise in new areas of substantive law.

In addition, as this is a developing clinic, new opportunities- for example for community-based work, or Public Legal Education Sessions- will likely develop as the clinic establishes itself.

Person specification - what type of volunteers are you looking for?

Volunteers should have at least 2 years’ Post Qualifying Experience and experience working in family/child law and/or court of protection law. Please note that Ty Hafan are keen that the clinic takes place at their centre in Sully, Vale of Glamorgan, so volunteers would need to be able and willing to travel there, at least initially.
