At Bath Law Clinic, based at University of Bath, students, staff and external solicitor volunteers provide free legal advice and assistance to individuals who are not eligible for legal aid and cannot afford to pay for legal advice. Volunteering opportunity

Bath Law Clinic are looking for volunteer qualified solicitors specialising in:

  • family
  • housing
  • employment

The role of volunteer solicitors is to provide one-off verbal advice to clients (online) with two students shadowing.  The students will then draft an attendance note, which the volunteer solicitor needs to approve so it can be sent out to the client.

The clinics run remotely.

Advice is covered by the clinic's professional indemnity insurance.

Person specification

Volunteers must be qualified solicitors (with practising certificates) who are experienced in one of the areas of law listed above.  Trainees are welcome to assist the clinic but would need to be supervised by a qualified solicitor from the firm.

Time commitment

There is no minimum time commitment - the clinic is flexible and open to discuss arrangements that suit availability of firms.
