Pro Bono Opportunity with SILKS - University of Salford Law Clinic

At SILKS - University of Salford Law Clinic, students, staff and external solicitor volunteers provide free legal advice and assistance to individuals who are not eligible for legal aid and cannot afford to pay for legal advice. The clinic covers family, housing & employment.

Volunteering opportunity

SILKS - University of Salford Law Clinic are looking for volunteer qualified solicitors specialising in family law to provide in-person support to the clinic.

Volunteer solicitors are involved with a mixture of support tasks including:

  • providing verbal advice directly to clients
  • supervising students interviewing clients
  • reviewing letters of advice and action points drafted by students 

Advice is covered by the clinic's professional indemnity insurance.

Person specification

Volunteers must be qualified solicitors (with practising certificates) who are experienced in family law.

Solicitors must be 3+ years PQE.

Time commitment 

There is no minimum time commitment - the clinic is flexible.

The family law clinic takes place on a Thursday.
