Paralegal, Not Beyond Redemption
Salary: £28,000 per annum
Hours: Full time (37.5 hours per week)
Contract length: 12 months fixed term
Location: Hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days in the office in Gough Square, London EC4A 3DE
Not Beyond Redemption (NBR) is a charity providing free Family Law advice to women in prison. They have a team of specialist family lawyers and volunteers who focus on helping to re-establish critical access and relationships between mothers and their children. NBR holds a mixture of in-person and remote clinics across the twelve women’s prisons in England.
They are looking for a dedicated and organised full-time paralegal to assist the NBR legal team.
Key Accountabilities:
- Organising legal clinics in prison
- Liaising with volunteers to attend clinics
- Drafting routine/non-routine letters subject to experience
- Preparing documentation/court bundles
- Completing legal forms and applications
- Attending client interviews and taking notes
- Keeping electronic client files up to date/electronically filing letters/documents/organising filing
- Liaising with the court and counsel’s clerks
- Liaising with pro bono solicitors and counsel
- Assisting with research for our advocacy programme
Experience and Skills
- Excellent communication skills and telephone manner
- Highly literate with the ability to read and assimilate written information
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to proof-read
- Proficiency in typing
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word and Excel
