Introduction to mortgage law

Delivered by Cecily Crampin, a barrister practising property law from Falcon Chambers, this is an introductory session for those who are new to housing and residential property law issues. This is the first of two training sessions looking at mortgage law, the second session will look at mortgage regulation in greater detail, the interventions of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in response to Covid-19, and their relevance to court proceedings.

  • What is a mortgage
  • Mortgages and registration
  • Mortgage remedies, with an emphasis on mortgage possession claims
  • A brief introduction on regulation in the context of court claims
