Summary of Service
King’s Legal Clinic offers free, one-off legal advice. Under the supervision of qualified lawyers, law students interview clients & provide a written letter of advice, usually within two weeks. Please note we are unable to provide ongoing representation, represent clients in court, or assist with urgent matters.
Family: Guidance on divorce, civil partnership dissolution, finances, cohabitation, child arrangements, domestic abuse protections, & Special Guardianship Orders. We cannot advise on pre-nuptial agreements, consent orders, most care proceedings, or urgent situations.
Employment: Advice for employees on unpaid wages, unfair dismissal, redundancy, health and safety, whistleblowing, trade union rights, & discrimination.
Housing: Support for tenants on disrepair, deposits, end-of-tenancy disputes, & early (non-urgent) homelessness concerns. We cannot advise landlords/homeowners, on anti-social behaviour issues, or urgent eviction/homelessness cases.
Intellectual Property: Advice for small businesses & entrepreneurs on trademarks, designs, & protecting new works.
