Delivered by Bethan Lloyd, Partner and Head of the Wales Public Sector Team at Geldards, this session will look at the implications of the new socio-economic duty found in section 1 of the Equality Act 2010. The duty aims to support the most vulnerable members of society, by requiring strategic decision makers to have regard to how their decisions might help reduce the inequalities associated with socio-economic disadvantage.
The session will cover:
- Background to the socio-economic duty;
- The Welsh Government’s decision to commence section 1 of the Equality Act;
- It’s implementation and application in practice.
