Pro bono opportunity for a housing lawyer with Islington Legal Advice Centre

The Islington Legal Advice Centre provides free legal advice at weekly drop in sessions on Thursday evenings at 7pm in the Crypt of St Mary's Church on Upper Street. The service is available to Islington residents but individuals from other boroughs will not be excluded. For the past 12 months, an online service has been offered too.

Volunteering opportunity

The centre is looking for a volunteer to help them provide legal advice on housing law and who can commit to at least one hour per week (from 7pm to 8pm) on Thursdays (and/or help with online enquiries).

What will volunteers get out of this?

Islington is a very mixed borough and includes some of the most deprived areas in the country. Volunteers will therefore be supporting individuals who do not have the resources to access legal advice and would therefore have nowhere else to turn for help. Volunteers will have access to the full range of resources and training provided by LawWorks in order to help provide this support.

Person specification - what type of volunteers are you looking for?

The centre are looking for qualified solicitors, barristers or legal executives (with practising certificates) who are experienced in housing law.

What email address should enquiries and applications be sent to?
