Cardiff Employment Law Clinic are looking for solicitors to provide advice to clients. Additionally, Cardiff Employment Law Clinic need admin volunteers to provide assistance and support to clients, as well as to assist in the administration of the clinic.
What will the time commitment be?
The clinic runs fortnightly on Wednesdays, with client consultations from 6-8pm. Volunteers should arrive by 5.30pm.
What will volunteers get out of this?
Solicitors will get the opportunity to provide one on one advice to clients with a real need for assistance in a wide range of employment matters. Many of Cardiff Employment Law Clinic's current solicitors on the rota enjoy the intimate nature of the consultations as a direct contrast to their full time role.
Admin volunteers sometimes get the opportunity to observe the solicitors providing advice to clients, which is an invaluable experience to anyone wanting to become a lawyer themselves.
Person specification - what type of volunteers are Cardiff Employment Law Clinic looking for?
Solicitors who wish to assist need to be a minimum of 3 years PQE, with a valid practicing certificate and practice employment law at least 50% of the time during their day-to-day role. Volunteers need no previous legal experience, and although the role does suit anyone currently studying law in any format (Undergraduate, post graduate, LPC, BTPC, GDL) or considering applying for law in the future, it is not a pre-requisite.
Any volunteers or solicitors interested will be contacted with further details.
