Pro bono opportunity with the BPP Employment Law Telephone Advice Line (ELTAL)

BPP’s Employment Law Telephone Advice Line (ELTAL) is a service which provides legal advice to individuals who have an employment law problem. ELTAL deals with a broad spectrum of legal issues which impact employees for example, unfair dismissal, grievances, whistleblowing and discrimination.

What are you looking for volunteers to help with?

We are looking for supervising solicitors who can oversee employment law advice. ELTAL runs online and via telephone. Volunteer lawyers make the advice calls between 6.30 – 8.30pm on Tuesday evenings, with two clients per volunteer. Volunteers call the clients from their desk or home, wherever is most convenient.

What will the time commitment be?

Volunteer supervising solicitors usually volunteer once a month, but we are happy to make different arrangements as required. Average time commitment per client for supervising solicitors is up to 1 hour for reading the client case background (client information is sent on Friday afternoons) and then 3 hours on a Tuesday evening to speak to the two allocated clients and type up notes of the advice calls.
