“In many respects the Legal Advice Centre has set a precedent and the standards that other law schools have been following over the last 10 years”.

Since its ‘tentative first steps’ in 1999, the University’s Legal Advice Centre has grown considerably, providing an invaluable contribution to the local community as well as helping a great number of volunteer students to gain practical experience in dealing with real clients and their problems.

The Centre currently has the support of over 17 firms of solicitors and 12 barristers and there are in excess of 250 students involved, together providing advice to more than 300 clients each year.

Following on from this success and in partnership with others the University has launched the East Manchester Legal Advice Centre to provide a much needed service in one of the most deprived areas of Manchester.
