Best Contribution by a Team of Students - 2010

Winner - Queen Mary, Pink Law Team

Short listed last year in the ‘New Activity’ category, the Pink Law team have consolidated the early work on focusing a project to assist the LGBT community.

The team consists of 7 students who deal with issues such as transgender realignment, immigration, civil partnerships, ‘honour’ killings, employment discrimination and homophobia. The students themselves have varied cultural backgrounds and sometimes need to set aside certain cultural beliefs in order to promote legal equality.

The Pink Law team volunteer more hours than our General Advice Team, working outside of allotted slots, during the day, evenings and weekends in order to meet the needs of our clients.

In addition the team has formed partnerships with LGBT organisations such as Stonewall, Gingerbeer, BLAGGand Q’Pod.
