LawWorks Regional Development

Since LawWorks North was established in 2007 it has grown considerably. LawWorks North is now a member of a variety of regional pro bono organisations, including the Manchester Community Legal Advice Services Partnership (M-CLASP) and the Yorkshire and Humber Pro Bono Group.

LawWorks North has been increasingly recognised within the region, particularly as a result of the first Annual Manchester Legal Walk in November 2008. This event was organised by LawWorks North and the Personal Support Unit in partnership and was a huge success, raising in excess of £28,000 for the legal charities in the area.

The projects that have been established in the North are bespoke, each having been tailored to the requirements of those within the region. The service provided is both friendly and personal and is able to address the needs of individuals and communities requiring pro bono services as well as the local law firms who wish to provide this.

We are keen for this expansion to continue, in order that a greater number of people have access to pro bono assistance where otherwise they would have had little in the way of support. During 2011, LawWorks is carrying out a number of regional events to promote pro bono legal advice services in areas of need.
