Attorney General's Student & Law School Pro Bono Awards 2008
Best Contribution by a Team of Students
University of Leicester Pro Bono Committee - Highly Commended
“Due to their hard work pro bono at the University is unrecognisable from the position in April 2007”
The committee has built on the Pro Bono Clinic and recruited 35 people to volunteer in the space of just a few months.
Having inherited a project with little funding and few appointments the students managed to obtain an annual grant giving them the financial footing they needed. Later the team introduced the Innocence Project, which increased the university’s pro bono participation by over 150%.
Finally, using fresh initiative, the team has begun to raise interest further by introducing Streetlaw sessions, with the aim of increasing the involvement of students in future years.
